WAVE PTX to UCLH – Wirefr3 were invited to provide a two way radio solution for University College London Hospital.  The solution was to be implemented in their new eleven storey building.  Given the complexity of the site, we had to consider both traditional two-way radio solutions and new concepts such as Motorola WAVE PTX Push to Talk .  Working with the hospital and their FM companies, CBRE and Medirest, they had a variety of requirements for their two way radio system.  These included:

• Providing a robust radio system
• Connectivity across multiple London sites.
• A system that all parties could utilise but could also operate independently.

Identify

After liaising with all stakeholders and completing extensive surveying at each site, we established the clients needs. PTT functionality, multi site setting, clarity, and fixed costs. The ability to communicate within their teams and other stakeholders, the ability for management to remain in contact with their teams irrespective of their location was also key.  As a Motorola Solutions Channel Partner, we were able to focus in on one of their two-way radio solutions in particular – Wave PTX Broadband Push to Talk.

Deliver

We were delighted to able to provide a solution that met all our clients requirements – WAVE PTX™.

The WAVE PTX™ solution utilises all four cellular networks and broadband.  Depending on location and signal strength, the device seamlessly connects to the stronger medium to operate.  This process allows our client to operate their devices whilst at their premises and moving across multiple sites and also staying connected when working from home.

The set up of WAVE PTX™ is straight forward.  There are no additional infrastructure costs.  A licence fee is not required to operate the service.  This means that there is no OFCOM licence fee to pay.  WAVE PTX™ is subscription based and simple to manage.  Simply choose your device and subscription and we will do the rest.

In addition to the TLK100 radio – management are utilising the APP option, allowing their smart phone to mirror a PTT radio.  This reduces the need for the individual to have two devices.

Our client now has a radio system that is both simple and effective.  It provides instant communication across multiple work locations. This allows staff to move between different sites without a break in communication.
