Motorola WAVE PTX – FAQ’s part 2

What cellular network does the radios utilise?
A Motorola WAVE PTX user does not need to subscribe to one single carrier network. You will subscribe to Motorola Solutions’ Wave wireless service, which covers all four of the UK’s main service providers. The radio will pick up the best possible signal available and will only work with the WAVE wireless service.
Does the radio have a SIM?
The radio has an embedded 4G SIM. It is permanently attached to the device to prevent it being removed, to ensure operational continuity.
Can the TLK100 and TLK150 work as conventional radios?
The radios uses an embedded cellular SIM. You can make private and group calls on the radio but it does not contain traditional two-way radio capabilities.
Can you customise talkgroups?
Yes. The programming along with any amendments are carried out via the WAVE portal.
Can you use a TLK series radio as a Wi-Fi only device?
No. The radio requires a service plan to operate although the radio operates on Wi-Fi when a plan is in place.
